Best Friends

Since my son started walking and to this day, everyone asks "are they twins"? When someone meets the other sibbling, they always comment on how much they look alike. They are brother and sister without a doubt.

She is very girly, he's all boy. They are best friends and we always say how lucky they are to have each other. He had just turned 3 when he started in preschool. He was feeling a little sad one day during his first week of school and asked his teacher if he could see his sister. They brought her to his classroom and she sat down next to him and began to draw. I think from that moment on, he felt a sense of comfort just knowing that she was close by. That summer, after school was over, they went to summer camp at another school close to home. The first day of camp, I dropped them off and they were greeted by a camp counselor. He took one look at his sister and extended his hand out to her. I watched as they walked away hand in hand in front of the counselor. They walked in together, holding hands, everyday for the next six weeks.

  1. This made me so happy to read! My (almost) three year old is so mean to his one year old sister and it breaks my heart. (no I don't yell at him all the time). I just don't get it! Every once in a while lately he hugs her or kisses her and I keep thinking of how awesome it would be if that becomes the majority instead of the minority.
