The Homestead, Virginia Part II

The snow melted away after a few days and it rained most of the day on our last day there. The rain was light and snow was expected to start falling around 9pm.  We went on a hayride in which a John Deere tractor took the place of the horse.  It started to rain lightly which added to the fun just as we were going to begin the ride. We all sat under umbrellas, covered up with blankets and the rain stopped after a few minutes.  We went to the mountain lodge for smores and hot chocolate. The kids made friends and they sat together with their hot chocolate looking out at the snow mobiles going up the ski path.  They told their new friends how much fun they had when we went snow mobiling a few days earlier.

We went back to Sam Sneads Tavern, across the street from the Homestead, for dinner and hoped it would be snowing on our walk back.  We had promised to wake them up no matter what time it was if it started to snow.
